You may have read our previous article on beginner footbag moves. And maybe you bought one of our super-cool soccer hackies to practice your new skills, in which case you might be ready to move on to something more ambitious.
With that in mind: Grab your soccer hackies and get started. Here are five advanced moves. Good luck
Neck Stall. This is a good first move to try once you've mastered the basic kicks and stalls; it's relatively simply and requires very little in the way of fancy footwork. Here it is: Simply catch the hacky on the back of your neck. Hold it for a moment, then toss it back into play. Sound easy? Well, it isn't one of the harder moves, but it certainly takes time to master. If you're having trouble, you can practice by balancing a soccer ball on the back of your neck with your head down.
Flying Inside Kick. Another relatively simple move. If you can execute an inside kick -- that is, kicking the ball using the inside of your foot -- you can execute a flying inside kick. SImply kick the ball as normally... only from about ten inches in the air. A flying inside kick is simply an inside kick performed while jumping. So jump in the air... and kick.
Donkey Stall. Execute this move by briefly catching the footbag with the back of your knee. Do this by bending your leg in order to trap the bag. To release the bag back into play, straighten your leg quickly. The hard part here is sending the bag back into play instead of firing it randomly into space. Be sure and give this move lots of practice before incorporating it into your routine.
Magic Hop. This one looks deceptively simple... but don't be fooled. The Magic Hop is a kick from one foot to the other with an integrated hop. Using a toe kick and starting with the right foot, kick the footbag over to the left foot, then place the right foot back on the ground while the bag is in the air. When you finally catch the bag with a left-foot toe stall, hop lightly into the air on your right foot. Sound simple? Remember: It all happens within the space of about half a second. This is a tough move to master.
Ducking and Diving. This involves performing tricks by kicking the footbag over your head, and ducking or diving underneath it. Ducking involves sending the bag overhead from one foot to the other; when you catch the bag on the receiving foot, you end the move with a trick. Diving means sending the bag into the air with one foot, then diving your head underneath it, then ending with a trick on the same foot. Ducking and diving are generally a form of enhancing tricks you're already good at, so don't overcomplicate your life by incorporating this technique into a trick you haven't thoroughly learned yet.
